5 Years of TAMASHA

Updated: Dec 21, 2020

Stories! Our lives revolve around an endless series of stories, interrelated, some could have been avoided but when seen from a third perspective add value to one's present. Stories that we heard, from Cinderella to Aladdin, Heer-Ranjha to Laila-Majnu. Narrative holds the truth and the truth is the characters can be irreplaceable just that the names are synonymous for the story and the story abide by them but is that story defined to just one particular character or it was created for the character rather by the character's wills and choices. Way too philosophical? Meh... we all have seen the classic TAMASHA and we all have been a Ved or Tara in our lives, we all have related to the parts. The relatability factor is what counts to we as audience tend to be mesmerized with the very aam-aadmi stories that we find ourselves as the hero. You being the heroine/hero is the result of self-introspection and in way stands the iconic movie TAMASHA and we are celebrating 5 years of it's magic.

Here's to one of my favorite scenes from the movie. Ved is devastated, lost in mediocrity introspecting through his Saathi's words, realising consciously his state of being, living in nothingness. What really drives Ved, is it a 9-to-5 job or stories that fascinate him over which he has the freedom to play the part, a character as dynamic as his spirit, defining real Ved. Who supports Ranbeer here is none other than.... Piyush Mishra, I conisder him to be a revolutionary, each and every act and word of his is filled with a creative perspective, a power-pack combination of fantasy woven into reality.

We are so afraid to live our dream that we fear our own success, we fear what we are destined to and the drive to achieve it with our mental block we deny to destine our lives our way. We all are Ved, we all want to know our future because the present doesn't feel right, 'to kahaani badal dete hain'. We tend to ignore our own remote to switch our very own story, we buy others' judgement and fears that we doubt our own growth. So is Ved, what changes his view towards his own story is the very fact... the baba(Piyush Mishra) says,

"Darta hai, dar lagta hai? Apni kahani mujhse puchhta hai? Kaayar! Kisse darta hai? Hai kaun yahan? Tu bata kya hota hai. Bata! Bol apni kahaani! Kya hai tere dil ke andar? Chahta kya hai tu?... Dil mein heer liye aur heer khoje veerane mein."
